Riding the Daegu Metro
Daegu has two subway lines and an elevated monorail, Line 3, that glides above the city. All are run by Daegu Transportation Corporation.
Lines
Line 1 (Seolhwa-Myeonggok–Hayang) serves Dongdaegu Station, Jungangno and Banwoldang; Line 2 (Munyang–Yeungnam University) runs through Banwoldang, Daegu Bank and Gyeongsan. Line 3 (Chilgok Kyungpook National University Medical Center–Yongji) is an elevated monorail with views over Seomun Market and the city.
- Arriving by KTX or SRT, change to Line 1 at Dongdaegu Station.
- For Daegu International Airport, most people take a bus or taxi from Ayanggyo station on Line 1.
Fares
Since January 2024 the flat fare is ₩1,500 with a transit card or ₩1,700 in cash (single ticket), whatever the distance. No 2026 increase has been reported.
Transit cards
Nationwide cards such as T-money work, with transfer discounts to city buses. Single tickets are sold at station machines.
Tips
Transfer stations are Banwoldang (Lines 1 and 2), Myeongdeok (Lines 1 and 3) and Cheongna Hill (Lines 2 and 3). On the Line 3 monorail, windows automatically frost over in some residential stretches to protect residents' privacy.
