Riding the Daejeon Metro

Daejeon currently has one metro line, linking Daejeon Station, City Hall, Yuseong Hot Springs and the area near KAIST. It is run by Daejeon Transportation Corporation.

The line

Line 1 runs east–west from Panam to Banseok via Daejeon Station, Jungangno, City Hall, the Government Complex, Yuseong Hot Springs and Jijok. If you arrive by KTX you can board at Daejeon Station; Seodaejeon Station is close to Seodaejeon Negeori on Line 1.

Fares

Sources disagreed on Daejeon's current fare when we checked, so we have not printed a number. See the fare page on the Daejeon Transportation Corporation website. Nationwide transit cards work, with transfer discounts to city buses.

The Line 2 tram

Line 2, a loop, is being built as a tram. In June 2026 its target opening was pushed back from late 2028 to late 2030.

Combine with a public bike

For short hops from a station, Daejeon's Tashu public bikes are handy, and the first hour is free (see Mobility Note's public bike guide).
